6904 Super 9.......sort of

Postby Colt_SAA » Wed Jun 22, 2016 2:59 am

I acquired this conversion already completed.

Starting out as a standard 6904, this nice compact pistol now has additional barrels chambered for 9x21 as well as 356TSW

This makes for a nice lighter weight brother to the all steel 3566 Compact

Naturally, it recoils a bit more than my 3566 Compact. However the lighter allow frame also makes it somewhat more pleasurable to carry all day.

It is very accurate. We were out shooting it about 2-3 weeks ago. I had the opportunity to introduce 2 shooter to the 356TSW that had never heard about it :)

I know you bought it this way, but do you have any idea who made the barrels? Are these factory barrels re-chambered?

Both barrels are re-chambers of 9MM factory original barrels

While I have been involved in the shooting sports for many years, just recently saw some pictures of a 3566 Compact and seemed like a very interesting pistol and cartridge. Would it be possible to post a photo of the 9mm parabellum, 9x21, and 356TSW, next to each other, so I can see what the 356TSW looks like relative to the others. Thanks.

Oh wow. Congratulations. This is interesting. Same recoil springs?

I remember some years ago when the last 356TSW factory ammo I saw was at ammoman - Federal. And I haven't looked for brass for some time; maybe Starline or someone makes occasional runs?

Actually the 9MM and 9x21 share a recoil spring (as memory serves) while the 356TSW barrel runs off one that is a bit stiffer.

Before you ask, I do not recall off the top of my head what the spring rating is. The pistol is at the other house several hundred miles away right now.

Thank you. I like my 9X19 3rd Gens very much, and swapping barrels for additional calibers would be great.
